This year I have one regret, and it regards my friend. A little about this friend and her litany of shortcomings. She has a dollar of pride for every 50 cents of accomplishments; she always knows more than she knows; her accomplishments are represented by a blank page; her empire of comedy is built on the ruins of peoples' self esteem; her friends fear her, her enemies respect her. It's odd. Never has an individual suffered so much in friendship, and never has the other been so glad to brag about it. That friend is Martinez, and my one error has been not telling her the following: "irrespective of the rudeness, crudeness, and awkwardness I may display when we interact, you have a unique personality that I cherish."

To Ali short for Allison: Of all the fishes in the sea, I chose to fry the one-eyed, flaky scale, rainbow trout. He walks like a dinosaur, and shrieks like a girl, but I never cease to laugh my pants off, indefinitely. His heart lacks a soul and professionalism is out of reach, yet his homeless companions add a hint of sensitivity. Whether he ends up on a farm, or reaches god-like competencies, ill always be amazed by the lack of his charms. Whether we laugh at ourselves or mostly at others, all we know is that wrinkles are made for laughter to cover. Cheers, to a mediocre friendship and many more Castro walks. -Martinez
