Chancellor’s Award for the Advancement of Women
This award recognizes exceptional efforts towards the advancement of women at UCSF beyond the scope of an individual’s job, area of research, or student training. The nomination form, award criteria, and a list of prior recipients are available online. Three individuals—one faculty/academic, one staff, one student/resident/postdoctoral scholar—will be selected to receive this award at a special ceremony to be held in the spring. Nominees should be either women or men who excel in one or more of the following:
* elevating the status of women on campus;
* improving campus policies affecting women;
* participating in career or academic mentoring for women;
* generating and disseminating knowledge on women’s health through research, teaching, and public presentations; and/or
* advancing the admission, recruitment, retention, and upward mobility of women at UCSF.
Nominations must be returned to the Office of the Chancellor, S-126, Box 0402, by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. If you have questions, please contact Assistant Manager Courtney Anderson at 476-6243 or courtney.anderson@ucsf.edu.

UC Commission On The Future
Tuesday, December 1
11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Parnassus Campus – Cole Hall
The UC Commission on the Future was established and charged with the development of a new vision for the University, one that maintains its excellence, access and affordability, as well as continuing its service to California while addressing the financial challenges resulting from the State’s fiscal problems. For this purpose, UCSF will host an open forum on Tuesday, December 1, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Cole Hall on the Parnassus campus.
Input from the University community is critical to the success of the Commission. Members of the Commission will be present to hear structured comments made by UCSF faculty, staff, student and other leaders, followed by an open session during which members of the audience may participate. Individuals also may provide feedback at http://ucfuture.universityofcalifornia.edu/feedback.html
The UC Commission on the Future comprises five work groups—Size and Shape of UC, Education & Curriculum, Access & Affordability, Funding Strategies, and Research Strategies— and asks for input on whether it is focusing on the right questions to accomplish its task. Each link connects to the draft questions under consideration by the respective groups. Additional information is available at: http://ucfuture.universityofcalifornia.edu/.
The forum will be broadcast to the following UCSF sites:
Laurel Heights—Auditorium
Mission Bay—Rock Auditorium
Mount Zion—Herbst Hall Auditorium
VAMC—Teak Room
SFGH—Conference Room # 3208
Fresno—Auditorium
