Game Day: New UCSF Hospitals Open and Patients Moved in on February 1

Left: The first pediatric patients were moved from Parnassus to the brand-new UCSF Benoiff Children’s Hospital in Mission Bay at 7:10 am on Sunday, February 1. The twin infants were moved in an orange-and-blue custom designed portable neonatal intensive care unit.

Middle: A San Francisco Police Department motorcycle motorcade escorted the ambulances throughout the morning.

Right: Ambulances shuttled back and forth all morning to move pediatric patients from Parnassus to Mission Bay. Adult patients were also shuttled from Mt. Zion to Mission Bay’s new cancer hospital. The entire operation was completed at 3:30 pm.
