Normal Enough
A corn maze sounds like a fun Halloween activity on a crisp fall day, but during an October heat wave these two were unimpressed by corn or pumpkins and decided to sit in the shade. Their wardrobe reflects the evolution of the “new normal” that people hoped for and feared in 2020, which has since become an uneasy day-to-day calculus based on variant outbreaks and local transmission levels. These days, children going out the door might be reminded to put on sunscreen, a hat, and a mask. They will get tested often. And so far, this is normal enough.
