Volunteer For Grad Slam
Students have the opportunity to volunteers for one of UCSF’s most popular annual events — Grad Slam. If you’ve assisted with Postdoc Slam or Grad Slam in the past, you know how much fun it can be.
The communications competition invites seven to 10 UCSF PhD candidates to captivate their audience with an enthusiastic presentation of their research in three minutes or less. A panel of five judges and the audience choose their favorites, who will win cash prizes. The top prize winner goes on to compete in the UC system-wide competition in May.
The 6th annual Grad Slam competition is coming up on Thursday, March 19, 4 to 6 p.m., in Genentech Hall at Mission Bay, and will need volunteers to welcome audience members and hand out programs, mind the auditorium doors during the competition, count the ballots for the “people’s choice award,” run around with handheld mics during the trivia contest, staff the check-in table and overflow room, and more. The event will also be live-streamed at Parnassus (N 225), which will also require a few volunteers.
If you have some time to spare that afternoon, organizers would be very grateful for your help. To help out, please fill out this brief online form, and organizers will be in touch with you in March with more details and volunteer assignments.
