What A Party! Ninth Annual UCSF Formal In Pictures

UCSF students from all the different schools converged at the Exploratorium on Feb. 22 for the 9th annual UCSF Formal, a night of memories one surely will never forget.

Students decked out in their gowns and suits danced the night away.

There was a whole museum of exciting exhibits open to explore for those uninterested in the dance floor. With free tacos and a DJ playing an electric mix of music the event truly had something for everyone.

Janella Leano, a third year Physical Therapy student, and Vice President of the Graduate & Professional Student Association was the lead event planner for the event.

This was the first time a PT student ever planned it. When speaking to Janella about the difficulty of the planning process she emphasized “the importance she placed on making sure the event was accessible for all students.” 

For Janella the greatest challenge she faced when planning an event of this magnitude was “trying to make everyone happy as there is a lot of pressure to please more than 1,000 students with a strict budget.”

Janella told me she has gained so much from the whole planning process as she has “improved her time management skills, decisiveness in decision making and perseverance with handling so many responsibilities.” 

This event would not have happened without her hard work and all those who attended the formal can attest to how incredible the whole night turned out to be. If you went to formal be sure tell her thank you for a job well done when you see her!
