This submission earned an honorable mention in the photography category. Taken during a weekend trip to Tahoe, this photograph illustrates serenity and the multiple seasons that coincide in California. Lounging at the beach and skiing in the mountains all in one day is a unique experience that is sometimes taken for granted. The central focus of the boat and mallard duck, I like to think, symbolize our coexistence with nature and animals and how we are fortunate to experience what nature has to offer. The sun, calm blue water, and snowy mountains made for a beautiful warm day with a hint of a cool crisp breeze. This picture reminds me to appreciate the nature and beauty surrounding me and to live in the present.
