Our science speaker series is back! Synapse: UCSF Student Voices is proud to present a coffee chat and Q&A with Esther Landhuis on Thursday, April 22.

Landhuis is a freelance science journalist whose stories have appeared in Scientific American, Nature, NPR, Science News, Undark, Medscape and elsewhere.

Enjoy a cup of coffee on us as Landhuis talks about earning a BS in biological sciences at Stanford and a PhD in immunology at Harvard before trading in her lab coat for laptop and pen by way of the UC Santa Cruz science communication program.

She’s now drawn to dogma and disruption and how science intersects with social issues. Lately she’s written about food allergies, systemic racism in STEM, and surprising roles of less-studied immune cells.

The first 50 UCSF students who register will receive a $5 Starbucks e-gift card. Register at tiny.ucsf.edu/2021SynapseCoffeeChat.
