about women and war
First place winner in the Storytelling Contest poetry category.
the curve of the earth aligns to our body
the heat from her core bellows within
leaves of autumn stain the ground
sea and sand shift toward new shores
bellies swelling with life
you must fear the Feminine
for why else would you trample us so
imagine if the world had been
a woman unfettered
you proclaim yourselves protectors
but who raped the land?
laid hands on the bosom that nursed your sickly form
stripped bare your sisters who filled your empty mind
raised your daughter like a cow for slaughter
worship, you lie
we cower from you
you forget
power is sin without mercy to wield her
when nothing remains but a shadow
you will search for grace
insist upon honor
you will seek comfort
as your festering wounds sour
you will pray to the gods
abandoned long ago
and you will beg for forgiveness
from your mothers’ shackled soul
you will not find it
you dimmed the light
so go live in darkness
that is all you have left here
