Looking for new ways to destress from studying, experiments, clinicals, or grant writing? Try the UCSF climbing club! The UCSF climbing club hosts climbing socials from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dogpatch Boulders on the first Friday of each month.

Come try climbing for the first time, meet other UCSF climbers, session your project, and welcome in the weekend. The best part? It is free! Your day pass is covered by the club! All experience levels and UCSF affiliates are welcome.

At the first social in September, students from all clinical and graduate programs were represented, alongside research staff, post-docs, and faculty. Experience levels ranged from first time climbers to climbers who regularly compete at the national level. So come on down to Dogpatch for the next social on Oct. 3.

Outside of the Dogpatch socials, the UCSF climbing club hosts a centralized Slack channel for UCSF climbers to connect, organizes outdoor climbing trips to spots around the Bay Area (gear is provided), and attends local competitions.

Our first outdoor trip of the year will be to Glen Canyon in the heart of San Francisco on Oct. 5. Glen Canyon is the perfect place to try outdoor climbing for the first time with safe landings, short approaches, and accessible problems.

Looking to try a larger bouldering area or push your outdoor climbing grade? We will also be heading down the peninsula to Castle Rock State Park in November. This area has some of the best boulder problems in the Bay area, with a wide variety of grades and styles. Climbers of all experience levels are welcome on all outdoor trips.

For competition inclined climbers, we are planning to attend Battle of The Bay (Oct. 31 and Nov. 1) for some Halloween climbing alongside additional USAC Collegiate Series competitions later in the year.

Interested? Sign up on the Club Website and join the Slack Channel. Our Instagram is @ucsfclimbingclub.

We look forward to seeing all of you rad climbers at the next social!
