Dual Icons in Japan
In May I took an early summer vacation to central Japan with my partner for a very early graduation trip. We spent an entire day traveling through Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, with the weather steadfastly blocking our view with a completely overcast sky. But when we rounded a corner at Lake Ashi and spotted the famous Peace Tori, we were granted a 10 minute window where Mt. Fuji peeked out from behind the clouds. It really felt like it was meant to be, a pairing of two of Japan's most iconic symbols, and made it worth carrying my camera around all day.
