F Line at Night

Connecting the Castro to Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco’s iconic F line streetcars run daily along Market Street and the Embarcadero. Delighting visitors and residents alike, these whimsical pieces of history remain, sharing the roads with squads of self-driving cars and robotaxis. Neon red Muni signs and cool blue floodlights are complemented by warm yellow illumination from the Path of Gold Light Standards aligning Market Street. Despite modernizing replacements over the years, including recently being outfitted with energy-efficient LED bulbs, these twentieth century fixtures retain the distinctive amber glow that has been softly illuminating San Francisco nights for over 100 years.
