This photo was taken in Bimthang, a small town in the upper Himalayan territory along the Manaslu Circuit in Nepal. On the cusp of the rainy season, the clouds settle in during the late afternoon and part in the evenings. Bimthang sits at nearly 12,000 feet of altitude, and it marks the beginning of the final descent out of the circuit. Surrounded by steep, snow-covered peaks, the town feels magical and isolated. The Manaslu circuit is a 10-14 day trek through rugged terrain and spectacular scenery and should be on the bucket list of anyone who likes to walk long distances.
