Ben Mansky's "Mason" won second place in the Storytelling Contest photography category.
Years ago, I was walking around North Beach at sunset and caught a glimpse of the cable car on its way across Mason. For me, this photo is quintessential San Francisco : the steep hill, the densely packed Victorians, the crisscrossing wires, and the cable car poking out of the trees.
With graduation on the horizon, I’m realizing just how much I’ll miss all these little details, pieces of scenery that make our city special.
Who knows if I’ll be able to visit my favorite museums, restaurants, coffee shops or bookstores one last time before I move – but the city’s hills, its trees, its spiderweb of wires will be here, open, always.
